Hands-On Course
The 9 Day Hands-on Program includes a comprehensive review, instruction & practice for all the mannikin procedures. Using chair mounted typodonts we also provide hands on instruction for the clinical portion as well. You will participate in a full mannikin mock board and receive individual evaluation & feedback. Please note that the schedule includes 12 - 13 hours per day

Below is our course schedule. Exact dates are available by calling our office. A detailed schedule will be provided when you register.

Day 1

5:00-5:30pm Registration
5:30-6:00pm Lecture: Orientation
5:30-7:00pm Lecture: All Manikin procedures except endo
7:00-7:15 BREAK
7:15-8:30pm Lecture: Patient procedures

Candidates will be assigned specific appointment times to go to the screening center to meet their patients.

Check the assignment board each morning posted in class. If assigned please report 15-30 minutes PRIOR to your scheduled appointment time. You will receive a map and directions to the screening center. Expect to be there about 2 hours.

Day 2

8:00am Set up for manikin procedures
8:30-11:00am 3 unit bridge prep 19X21 table top exercise
11:00-12noon Insert: Class II composite #30; Class II Am. #15: Cl IV #10M
12-1:00pm BREAK
1-3pm Continue insertions
3-6:00pm Lecture : Law review for those who need it
3:00-6:00pm 3-unit bridge prep 4X6 table top
6:00-9:00pm Non instructional practice complete today’s assignments

Day 3

8-12noon Table Top exercise 3-unit bridge prep 4X6; insert # 2 composite # #15 amalgam, #7M
12-1pm BREAK
1-5pm Lecture: Diagnostics (If you still need to take Diagnostics)
1-5:30 pm NON DIAGNOSTIC group 3-unit bridge 19-21 and open practice
5:30-9:00pm Non instructional practice complete today’s assignments

Day 4

8-9:00am Lecture: Endodontic Procedure
9:00-9:30am Set up typodont in simulator 3-unit 9-bridge 19X21 in mounted
9:30:-12pm Endo Demo’s will take place in the morning by groups
12-1 BREAK
1:00-5:30pm Complete 2 endo procedures & Class II amalgam preparations # 12 & 13 DO: Endo Demo’s will also continue if necessary
5:30pm-8pm Non instructional practice (prepare a new Cl.II Am # 12 DO)

Day 5

8:00-12:00pm 3 unit bridge prep # 19-21 Rubber Dam Insert Amalgam # 12 & #13
12-1 BREAK
1:00-5:30pm Intensive hands on practice to get ready for Mock-Board: Finalize exam typodont that will be handed to the lab for sealing tomorrow.
5:30-8:00pm Non instructional practice

Day 6

8-4pm MOCK BOARD room will open for set up at 7:30am
4-6pm Hand in exam typodont.

Day 7

9-1:00pm Lecture: Return exam &mock board model Review Mock Board:
1-5:30pm Individual Review of MockBoard and redo specific procedures
5:30-9:00pm Non instructional practice

Day 8

9:00-10:30am Lecture: Review Patient protocols Questions and Answers
10:30-12:30pm Instructional Practice
12:30-1:30pm Break
1:30-5:30 pm Instructional practice
5:30-8:30pm Non instructional practice

Day 9

8:30-4:00pm Today is the final day

Instructional practice, organize kits, sterilization, and any last minute purchases from the Schein Store

Faculty is available all day to help you finalize any last minute procedures.
